How will your business change in a post-COVID world?

Listen to Audio Version:

Over the past few months, many of us have had to completely change the way that we work. Some have been working from home, while others were unable to work at all. For anyone running a business, COVID-19 has been a nightmare but there are some positives that can be taken out of the entire situation. Some business owners such as Neil Grimshaw from Ravenshall have already indicated that there will be some big changes to expectations of productivity in a post-COVID world.

In light of restrictions being eased, we are going to look at some of the ways that your business could change in a post-COVID world. Find out more about this below.

Working from home

Have you been working from home during the pandemic? Many business owners have reported positive results from trying out remote working and are already considering offering this to their staff in the long-term. While you might want to get your team back in the office as soon as possible, you should consider the benefits of flexible working. You could save money, reduce commuting stress and increase employee retention.

Ability to adapt

Knowing how to adapt as a business is key but no one could have predicted the impact that the pandemic had on the world. So, how did you adapt during this time? Did you start offering your services online? Many of us not only had to change our practices but also our ways of thinking. Once the pandemic is over, your ability to adapt will be much greater and this is certainly a positive. Now that you have been through the worst, you’ll be ready for what comes at you. This is not the kind of experience any of us expected to gain but it will become very valuable.

Online services

Another common way that many businesses are expected to change in a post-COVID world is in relation to online services. Some industries have had to completely adapt and move their entire business online so will this continue to be common practice? If you have found that running your business online has brought success – why not continue to work online after the pandemic is over? Perhaps you can scale back a bit but still offer both an online and offline service. This is something that many business owners are considering already.

Risk assessment

Finally, it should be noted that many businesses in the UK will have an increased awareness of the importance of risk assessment in the future. Sure, many of us have been required to perform risk assessments in the past but did we ever do this effectively? Now that we have experienced this, we know just how important it is to prepare for something like this happening again. It is possible that you will start to focus more on this aspect of your business to protect it in the future.

Get in touch

Regardless of the kind of changes you will be making to your business, it is always a good idea to get advice from professionals in similar situations. For this reason, we recommend that you join a peer advisory board like the Alternative Board. We have plenty of local boards and have been adapting over the past few months – just like you.
